Mission Statement

Adelphi Academy, a college preparatory school, provides its diverse student body with a nurturing, comprehensive and challenging program of studies and activities in a safe, caring and secure environment. The focus of the instructional and support program offered is on the individual student. Each student will be encouraged to reach his or her maximum potential and to acquire the skills needed to become contributing members of the community.

Objectives
  • To vertically articulate core subject areas (English, History, Math, Science and Foreign Language) in all grades, in order to provide our students with a continuous, coordinated set of learning experiences in these areas.

  • To organize a coordinated, multi-level instructional program that provides students with a comprehensive learning experience and prepares them for a successful college experience.

  • To structure a learning environment in which students learn about their own gifts and limitations and how to understand and appreciate that learning continues for life.

  • To furnish students with a safe and secure environment which will nurture their basic physical, emotional and intellectual needs and concerns.

  • To encourage and facilitate attendance of teachers at workshops and staff development conferences to expand and refine their instructional strategies.

  • To maintain classroom instruction that will express the attitudes of participatory democracy, emphasizing the importance of each student's input into the process of education.

  • To provide the resources necessary to accomplish the goals and support the multifaceted programs offered at Adelphi Academy.

  • The Adelphi Academy graduate will possess the following skills and/or knowledge that will enable them to:
    1. Use critical thinking strategies to solve problems.
    2. Work independently and with others in the community.
    3. Understand and respect the principles of living in a democracy.
    4. Use computer technology as a tool for acquiring and disseminating information, which will expand one’s knowledge.
    5. Make informed decisions about one’s future educational endeavors as they relate to career choices
